Dongluo Village sits within the Xinghua Duotian Farmland, a site recognized as both a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System and a World Heritage Irrigation Structure. Adjacent to the Thousand-Island Rapeseed Scenic Area in the east and the Lizhong Water Forest Park in the west, the village is interwoven with waterways and dotted with vibrant farmland mounds. Here, people, water and the land coexist in harmony, preserving traditional Duotian farming techniques and the authentic charm of “water villages on the mounds.”
“We’re so proud—our village has been named one of the Best Tourism Villages ! I believe our future will be even brighter.” “We’re so excited. This is a real recognition of our efforts to grow rural tourism. We welcome visitors from everywhere!” Not long ago, Dongluo Village in Qianduo Town, Xinghua City, Taizhou, received the exciting news of being selected as one of World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) “Best Tourism Villages,” sending waves of joy throughout the community.
“Take the Dongluo Grand Hall, for example,” shared Luo Guokang. “This building was transformed from an old village temple. It used to host community meetings and film screenings. While preserving the architectural style, we redesigned the interior. Now, the Grand Hall serves multiple roles—as a venue for village planning exhibitions, a display center for specialty agricultural products, and a shared cultural tourism space where performers are invited to hold shows for both villagers and tourists.”
Leveraging its Duotian agricultural heritage, traditional water-town architecture, local cuisine and other cultural resources, Dongluo Village has, in recent years, strengthened its tourism infrastructure and public-service facilities. Professional teams were brought in to build the “Bishui Dongluo” tourism brand, nurturing new businesses such as the Yunduo Guesthouse and Jimu Café. The village also developed creative cultural brands including “88 Granaries” and “Yi He Yi Dou”, enriching visitors’ rural travel experience and giving Dongluo a fresh cultural vitality.
