On June 14, the 2025 Jiangsu Province Cultural and Natural Heritage Day launch ceremony and main events, organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Nantong Municipal Government, took place in Haimen District, Nantong.
The launch ceremony kicked off with a captivating intangible cultural heritage performance titled Ode to the Charm of Jiangsu. Ni Shiyun, the provincial inheritor of the Mei'an School of Guqin Art, filled the air with ancient melodies, while the stage came alive with a dynamic fusion of national and provincial intangible cultural heritage elements including Taixing Flower Drum Dance, Huatiao Folk Dance, Zhoushi Lion Dance and the iconic Jiangsu folk song Jasmine Flower. Together, they painted a vibrant tapestry of the province's profound cultural heritage through diverse artistic expressions.
The event released the province's 2025 Cultural and Natural Heritage Day key programs: 50 major cultural relics and 50 intangible heritage activities. A total of 1,262 publicity events will be held online and offline, including 404 cultural relic exhibitions and 858 intangible heritage showcases, allowing the public to enjoy a rich cultural feast and share in heritage protection achievements close to home.
In the meantime, the "Charm of Jiangsu – Experience Intangible Heritage Near You" exhibition opened in Nantong. This large-scale market features 100 representative intangible heritage projects from across the province alongside 30 popular local food stalls.
